Spain's second busiest airport is Barcelona's El Prat de Llobregat Airport (BCN). It served nearly 30 million passengers in the year 2006. It serves mostly the popular tourist destinations all over Spain including the coastal regions, but it also connects to many European cities. Its business thrives because it is a highly modernized airport.
The airport is only about 10 kilometers (6 miles) away from the city center. Taxis are available, but can be rather costly. A cheaper and often faster option is the half hourly RENFE C-10 suburban train line calling at Sants, Passeig de Gracia and Estacio de Franca (30 minutes) in the city center. Alternatively, the Aerobus A1 line stops between terminal A and terminal B and travels to Placa Catalunya in the city center. Buses depart every 6-9 minutes and the published journey time is 35 minutes, but can take considerably longer during rush hour.
